High Striker

The High Striker was a modern homage to the old-school fun fair attraction. The idea was to replace the sledge hammer with your smartphone.

The whole installation was about 4 meters high, illuminated by dozens of motion-sensitive LEDs and equipped with a detailed illustrated cover.

The core mechanism of the High Striker consists of a solenoid valve and an air compressor. A web application collects the motion and acceleration metrics of a smartphone’s gyroscope. When a user »hammers the smartphone«, air gets released into the tube where a small rocket is located.
